Hei, the compelling lead in the “Darker Than Black” anime series, is an amnesiac with the ability to control lightning; he is a contract killer for the Syndicate and goes by the name “The Black Reaper.” Hei is a complex and compelling protagonist because of his powerful combat and strategic abilities, as well as his fierce dedication to his friends and allies. If it means his life, he’ll give it up to save them.
Even though Hei’s costume is quite straightforward, it nevertheless manages to make him instantly recognizable. His all-black getup (trenchcoat, pants, and boots) and jet-black messy haircut, and most of all, his ambiguous white mask, convey his mystique and menace, respectively.
