Stand out from the crowd this Halloween with the bizarro version of the iconic Nintendo mascot. Who wants to be Mario (that’s just boring!) when you can be his dangerous and mischievous counterpart, Wario!
So turn that ‘M’ upside down and get a ‘W’ this cosplay season with our in-depth Wario DIY costume guide!
How to Dress Like Wario
To replicate the classic Wario look, you will need the following items:
- Bright purple overalls
- Yellow hat with a blue “W” on the front
- White gloves with blue “Ws” on them
- Yellow short-sleeved T-shirt
- Black zigzag mustache
- Large pink fake nose
- Inflatable belly (optional)
The Wario costume is brightly colored and demands attention, so if you like colorful bad guys, this guy is the one to choose for your next Comic-Con or costume party.
His costume includes a bright purple overalls, a yellow hat with a blue “W” on the front, white gloves with blue “Ws” on them, a yellow short-sleeved T-shirt, a black zigzag mustache, a large pink fake nose, and if you like, you can add an inflatable belly to the costume for extra realism.
It’s a comfortable costume that you can wear for long periods of time if you like, and the items are easy to find because most of them can be found at any party or costume store.
You’ll also find that each item is easy to attach and/or wear because the inflatable belly is attached with straps, the gloves have comfortable foam padded wrists, and the faux mustache has adhesive backing that allows it to stay in place for a long time.

About Wario’s Look
Wario was Mario’s childhood rival and is now jealous of his success. In earlier portrayals, Wario wore a yellow long-sleeved shirt and fuchsia overalls.
Now, his outfit is a plumber’s outfit that has a purple-and-yellow color scheme. His hat and gloves have a “W” on them, and part of the costume is a zigzag mustache and a large fake nose.
Remember that this is an evil, very gruff character from the Super Mario video games, so he usually has a scowl on his face and looks as though he’s not in a very good mood!
Wrapping Up
Let’s face it; Mario is kind of boring because he’s good all the time, but Wario is a little more exciting because you never know what he is going to do next. That’s why portraying him is so much fun!
The Wario costume is a great complement to all of the other Mario characters who may be accompanying you to that next costume party. This motorcycle-riding, garlic-loving character is certain to be more exciting than Mario, and even if you decide to act like a good guy once you get to the party, it’s still going to be a lot of fun wearing the Wario costume.
