Set out for adventure at your next cosplay event by trying your hand at a Princess Bubblegum costume. With just a few easy steps, you can transform into the super sweet and bubbly (literally!) character from Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time.
Fair warning, if you aren’t going with the store-bought dress options, you will need A LOT of pink fabric to finish this cosplay.
Now let’s get started!
How to Dress Like Princess Bubblegum
Pink Dress
The first step is to find a pink dress that resembles Princess Bubblegum’s signature style. You can either purchase a pre-made costume or piece one together yourself. If you’re going the DIY route, we recommend checking out your local thrift store for a pink dress that you can alter to look like Princess Bubblegum. Once you have your clothing, it’s time to move on to the next step!
Next, add some ruffles or other embellishments to the bottom of the dress to give it a more princess-like look. Finally, put on your tights and shoes, and you’re all set!
Crown
The first order of business is to track down a pink gown that is reminiscent of Princess Bubblegum’s characteristic look. You have the option of buying a ready-made outfit or putting one together yourself. A pink garment, easily altered to resemble Princess Bubblegum, can be found at most good thrift stores. Put on your clothes, for the next phase is here!
To finish off the princess-worthy aspect of the dress, add some frills or other embellishments to the hem. Now that you have your tights and shoes on, you are ready to go!
Pink Wig
Her pink, straight hair is long and reaches almost to her hips. Princess Bubblegum’s signature pink hair is a look that few people can achieve without resorting to a high-quality pink wig, as real pink hair so long is quite uncommon. We suggest looking at places like Amazon.com or your neighborhood costume shop.
The next step, after obtaining your wig, is to style it. Brush it out, then set it with hairspray.
Pink Skin
She’s not called Princess Bubblegum for nothing! She gets her name from her signature bubblegum pink skin.
You could wear a pink zentai suit, or you could use body paint on all your exposed skin. But if you go that route, do it right with some good quality body paint. I recommend the makeup from Mehron. I’ve used this face and body paint during other cosplay builds, and it never disappoints!

Highlights from Pomberry
🎃 I’m creating a Princess Bubblegum look for Halloween, complete with vibrant and fun makeup!
🖌️ I’ve chosen to use water-activated face paint, and I take steps to protect my skin from staining.
💄 My makeup plan involves a combination of highlighting and contouring techniques, specifically tailored to achieve a round face shape for an authentic Princess Bubblegum appearance.
👃 I meticulously craft a button-like nose through precise contouring, adding to the charm of the character.
👀 To capture Princess Bubblegum’s signature look, I use eyeshadow to create a beautifully rounded eye shape that enhances the overall effect.
👁️ For the eyebrows, I’m getting creative by using NYX liquid suede lipstick, giving them a unique and colorful twist.
🍑 To add warmth and a touch of playfulness, I apply a warm-toned blush around the nose area, ensuring the character’s youthful appeal.
✨ To make this transformation even more magical, I’m drawing inspiration from a previous Marceline look, infusing a hint of nostalgia into the makeup design.
